La médiatisation du handisport à l’ère moderne en France : est-ce un sujet tabou?
Résumé
L’objectif de ce mémoire de recherche est de déterminer le statut actuel de l’handisport dans les médias. Dans une société moderne où la population handicapée ne cesse de s’accroître, nous voulons savoir quels sont les enjeux et limites de la médiatisation du mouvement handisport. Pour cibler notre objet d’étude, le travail se limite à la zone Europe et particulièrement en France et au Royaume-Uni. La France, car elle fait partie du terrain principal sur lequel sera menée l’enquête. Le Royaume-Uni, car c’est le pays précurseur en matière de médiatisation sur l’handisport. Nous souhaitons voir si l’évolution du traitement médiatique et de la pratique handisport est croissante. Mais aussi comprendre les éléments qui pourraient freiner sa progression. Est-ce que le sujet dérange la communauté des médias ? Le téléspectateur est-il gêné d’apercevoir des athlètes handisports à la télévision ? Plusieurs éléments de réponses seront apportés dans la recherche suivant, dans l’espoir d’améliorer la visibilité des athlètes handisports, mais aussi dans l’appréhension du sujet.
Summary
The objective of this research thesis is to determine the current status of the sport for people with disabilities in the media. In a modern society, where the disabled population does not stop increasing, we want to know what the stakes and the limits to the media coverage of the disabled movement are. To target our object of study, the work limits itself to the European zone and particularly in France and in the United Kingdom. France, because it is a part of the main ground on which will be led the investigation. The United Kingdom, because it is the precursory country regarding coverage on the sport for people with disabilities. We wish to see if the evolution of the media treatment and the disabled practice is increasing. But also understand the elements which could slow down this progress. Does the subject disturb the media community? Is the viewer embarrassed to see disabled athletes on television? Several answers will be made in the following research, hoping to improve the visibility of the disabled athletes, but also in the apprehension of the subject.
